Who we are

We chose our name, 1972 Negotiations, as a proud reminder of the year when Title IX was enacted in the United States. Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex within educational institutions receiving federal funding, changed the game for women. In secondary school classrooms, out on the field, and even on college campuses, women finally had a legal basis to demand for equal rights. But we know the work did not end in 1972.

Even after over 50 years, the full vision of Title IX, and gender equality, is yet to be realized. Despite great improvements in participation, graduation and completion rates, women still face gendered challenges when it comes to their education and career ambitions. That’s where we come in.

At 1972, we expand upon what Title IX started and give women the tools to advocate for themselves, even in a world that was not built for them. Whether it is fighting for their healthcare, their next raise, or for a senate seat, we want every woman to feel confident advocating for herself.

We offer a variety of workshops specially designed by and for women. All of our spaces and offerings are trans and non-binary inclusive, and consider a cross-sectional view of feminism. Feel free to read about our workshops here on the site, or to contact us with any questions.
